History
“Dayton for The Arts” was created by Dr. Hyacinth Paul on a not so cold February morning of the 27th day in the year 2024. This was the consequence of her 24-year long journey in the wonderful community of Dayton, OH where she lives with her husband and raised their two young children who have left the roost to make their own mark in our world. This organization is a collective effort of her experiences and conversations with her passionate friends who think that the Arts have a major role to play not just to enrich our community, but also to nourish the general health and well-being of individuals in all walks of life. In many debates across varied groups, we all realized how the Arts were slighted despite being a very essential part of our day to day lives are are eroding from the lives of many of us in Dayton.
We are very blessed in Dayton to have a rich source of several Arts outlets and organizations that support it. What is lacking is the education into how essential the Arts are and how it impacts our health. We seek to provide this education to a larger audience by bringing Arts programs and rejuvenating the love of the Arts for all age groups. Through this effort we want to rekindle the love of the Arts and the knowledge of its impact on wellbeing by making it available to many more in our community. We want to make it equitable. We hope that participation in existing Arts offerings in Dayton will improve and collaborations will result due to our humble efforts.
Since 2000, Dr. Paul has been supported by countless members of her community, her friends, The Montgomery County Arts and Cultural District, Cultureworks and The Ohio Arts Council in curating and bringing several successful and diverse events steeped in art to Dayton, OH.
This is crucial now, more than ever as the mental burden in the US is 1:4 and it is 1:7 around the world according to the World Health Organization.
We hope you will continue to support our efforts into the future and make Dayton a truly unique community that becomes the Gold standard for communities of Art lovers everywhere.
